I am pleased to announce that we now have the new form and application process for those who wish to rejoin Little Mountain Residential Care & Housing Society. I apologize that finalizing the process has taken longer than anticipated but with the pandemic crisis, our attention was unavoidably shifted.  I also apologize to all of our great Society Members that we have had to initiate a membership application that is more stringent than it has been in the past. However, it has become necessary for us, in light of our fiduciary responsibility, to ensure that membership was in accordance with the Societies Act and with our Bylaws. The Bylaws highlight the Board’s responsibility to ensure that membership is given to those who demonstrate an interest in advancing the purposes and supporting the activities of the Society. It also states that the Board has a responsibility to refuse membership or renewal for any reason which, in the Board’s view, is necessary or prudent to protect the reputation and integrity of the Society.

Applications for Society Membership must be individually submitted by mail. They may not be bulk submitted with a group of applications. Immediate family members from the same household may mail in applications in the same envelope.

NOTE:  Because of the COVID 19 Pandemic, applications must not be brought personally to Little Mountain Place. They must be mailed to minimize potential exposure. Applications must be paid by cheque.  Due to COVID 19, cash is not accepted.  If a member applicant is approved, they will be notified of the acceptance and the cheque will be deposited.  This payment procedure will be temporary as it is being written during the time of the COVID 19 pandemic and extra measures are being put in place to minimize the handling of money. If an application is not accepted by the Board, the application form and cheque will be returned by mail.

The Board will appoint Members to interview each applicant before approving membership. All membership applications and renewals will be processed in the same manner. There will also be a process by which applicants can book their interview time and each applicant will receive further instructions on this process.  Because of COVID 19, all interviews will be conducted using video conferencing and can be done using a smart phone, tablet or computer with camera and audio. The interview process will be simple and should take no longer than 10 minutes.

Note also that the process for submitting applications, fee payment and interviews is driven by the pandemic guidelines on safe interactions and distancing. This process will be modified again when the pandemic is over.
